How fees work

Cosmetic and restorative work is planned one patient at a time, so what it costs is too. This is how we talk about it, and what we put in writing.

  1. Insurance we work with

We file claims for dental PPO plans, and before you book we tell you whether we are in network with yours. Plans often treat cosmetic work as elective and don't pay for it, and we say so up front.

    • PPO and indemnity plans: we file the claim

    • DHMO plans: ask us before you book

    • Medicare and Medicare Advantage: dental coverage varies, so ask us

    • Medicaid and CHIP: we are not in network, and we can point you to offices that are

  2. If you pay yourself

If you don't have dental insurance, or you would rather not use it, you pay the fee for your treatment, and you get that fee in writing before we start. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

  3. Receipts for reimbursement

If you pay us and your plan reimburses you, we give you an itemized statement of your visit to send to your plan. Your plan decides what it pays.

  4. An estimate in advance

We give a written estimate in advance to anyone paying without insurance, and to anyone who asks. It lists each step of the treatment, the visits it takes and what it will cost.

    • Ask when you book or at your visit

    • In writing, before any treatment starts

  5. Checking your benefits

Before your first visit our front desk checks your benefits and tells you what your plan says it covers. A plan's estimate is the plan's, so we show you both.

An estimate is what we expect to bill. If your plan's final payment differs, we explain the difference before you pay.

Questions about paying

Will I get a written estimate for cosmetic work?

Yes. After your exam your dentist writes out each step, the visits it takes and the fee, so you can take it home and decide.

Does insurance cover veneers or whitening?

Plans usually treat veneers and whitening as elective and don't pay for them, though a plan may help with a crown or a filling. We check your benefits and show you what your plan says and what we estimate.

Do you offer financing?

Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender. Ask our front desk for the lender's own terms before you decide.
